Why an Audiobook?I recorded the narration for my first book The Power of Perception: Leadership, Emotional Intelligence, and the Gender Divide in 2019. It took me 3 long months to record it in a professional music studio (that includes recording, editing, processing, and uploading files to Audible) and it cost more than I anticipated. I was waffling about whether to record an audiobook for our new book The 5 Levels of Male Allyship: A Guide to Building Better Teams Through Real Inclusion with co-author Michael O'Brien. Then I did a little Google search. Turns out that audiobooks are a preferred format by many who read non-fiction business books. It makes sense because business professionals are busy people -- listening while they are commuting, traveling, or exercising. If I were writing romance or mystery novels, my decision might have been different! Alas, this is a picture of me at Studio 770 in Brea, CA recording the narration for the second book (I'm not sure what light caused that weird purple reflection on my glasses). The recording process was much more streamlined this time and I'm happy to say that the recording came out extremely clear and professional. You can find the print, eBook, and audiobook formats to both books at the above Amazon links. Audible Referral Links & Promo CodesAs you may know, Audible houses all audiobooks and is owned by Amazon. If you are NEW to Audible, you can use the referral links below to access these audiobooks for FREE! The Power of Perception: The 5 Levels of Male Allyship: If you are an EXISTING Audible listener, I have Promo Codes for you to access each audiobook for FREE! If you're interested, just message me back and I'm happy to provide you with a promo code. Amazon ReviewsI also have a favor to ask...if you do get the audiobook through the referral link or promo code, I'd love for you to leave a review on Amazon! Reviews are really important for ranking on Amazon, and they help other potential listeners too. A review doesn't have to be long (just 1 or 2 sentences) and only takes a couple of minutes. Don’t worry if you haven’t read/listened to the entire book, there are “Summary Points” at the end of each chapter (in both books) which give you the gist of it. And if you're not comfortable leaving your name, you can write an anonymous review. Think of your initial or overall impression. Did you find it interesting, intriguing, shocking, inspiring, informative, etc.? About the BooksThe Power of Perception is based off my original dissertation research on the topics of leadership, emotional intelligence, and gender. I wrote it to serve as a practical guide to educate women and men on the barriers that keep women from fully contributing in the workplace. These include differences in leadership style & emotional intelligence, gender bias & stereotypes, breadwinner & caregiver responsibilities, and differences in gender culture that show up every day at work and home. The reasons that we don’t see more women leading our global businesses has nothing to do with women’s skills and competencies. It has everything to do with perceptions of women as leaders, as workers, as mothers, and as wives! In The 5 Levels of Male Allyship, Michael and I realized that male allyship is critical in attaining gender parity in today’s organizations. Data shows that many men want to be better allies but just don’t know what to do, don’t know where to look, or don’t have the support they need. We deliver a groundbreaking framework that charts the path from passive awareness to courageous advocacy, and we address the fears, pressures, and cultural forces that hold men back from meaningful support and offer tools to overcome them. We also provide tools and strategies for women in identifying more male allies, and for HR/culture leaders in creating more inclusive cultures built around allyship. Next StepsI hope you will take advantage of these offers to get a FREE copy of both audiobooks. It's not every day that one gets to announce the launch of a new audiobook so I'm very excited! Credit: EtiAmmos What Employees Really Want I was recently interviewed on a podcast and was asked to comment on organizational and talent trends now and in the future. As usual, I dove into the research, including a visit to ChatGPT. I wanted to see what it came up with and see how AI is impacting what we want and need at work. I found that what employees want now, and in their future workplace, doesn't change very much. What surprised me is the overwhelming desire for more people-focused...
Vista Academy AI vs EQ Last month, I published a newsletter titled "Women are Strong at the Things AI Can't Do". It received a strong response with lots of positive feedback -- thank you! As I mentioned before, given the rapid transformation of AI into our work and lives, I find myself thinking more about gender and AI these days. In that newsletter, I talked about how women are especially strong at the things AI can’t do -- and many of these skills are grounded in emotional intelligence...
